The Miracle League of Northwest Ohio recently opened its new concession area at Brentwood Park in Northwood, Ohio, and Hoover & Wells was proud to have helped in its construction!
The Miracle League provides an opportunity for children and adults to enjoy our nation’s pastime of baseball, regardless of ability. Each player is assigned a “buddy” during the games to ensure the experience of playing baseball is more enjoyable for everyone involved. With the youngest players starting at the age of 4 and continuing to play for as long as they like, The Miracle League grants these athletes the same opportunities that other kids are given.

PLUMBERS, PIPEFITTERS, HVAC & WELDERS - UA LOCAL NO. 671
The professionals at Hoover & Wells was contracted to rehabilitate and restore existing concrete in Monroe, MI. We installed new flooring finishes for our partners and friends at local 671 in their newly acquired building!
The Project
The partner’s new expansion needed a floor overhaul before it could be considered functional for the anticipated use. Using our Rez-Stone 9412 (find out more about this system here) 1/8" Color Quartz, we were able give them the exact floor system they desired! Jobs like these may lack in size (at least compared to the projects we often get in warehouses or hangers), but they still take a great deal of attention and expertise from our crews to surpass the owner’s expectations.

Hoover Wellsfeatures our own custom epoxy flooring called Rez-Stone. It is a great fit for businesses that want to apply an epoxy coating to their current concrete floor. However, you may be asking yourself the question, ‘Why would you want an epoxy floor?’
The most common reason for using an epoxy floor is just how versatile it is.Seriously, some of the systems we offer include resistances to chemicals, slips, sparks, heat, impacts andmore.Epoxy floors can make your operation safer! Epoxy reflects light better than concrete to help increase the overall brightness of the area and we can add lines/patterns to epoxy floors to help easily identify pathways and hazardous areas. From hazard markings and walkways to ads and logos, we can make it happen!
It also lasts a long time! Epoxy can last for many years, even when under constant stress from heavy use. As you can probably guess, it is harder to fix concrete than an epoxy covering. That layer of long-lasting epoxy serves as a layer of protection for your concrete floor underneath, protecting against chipping, cracking, and wear.

Concrete surfaces must be clean and sound. Remove all dirt, laitance, grease, curing compounds, and other bond-inhibiting contaminants by shot blasting, scarification, or other approved mechanical methods. Due to the relatively thin film thickness of the system, brush blasting is recommended with a S-280 shot or smaller to prevent blast marks from telegraphing through the coating. Treated surfaces vacuumed to remove all dust and dirt before applying any coatings.

Slip resistance is a major consideration when trying to select the proper floor system for your facility. (We refer to slip resistance as the floor texture.) There is a give-and-take scenario when selecting the amount of slip resistance needed. The more slip resistant your epoxy floor system is the harder it is to clean, but again, your floor is not slippery. As you lower the slip resistance, your floor becomes easier and easier to clean.
There are three ways to control slip resistance in an epoxy floor system:
- Adding aggregate to the epoxy material,
- The topcoats natural finish,
- And the topcoat coverage rate.
Generally, aggregates include oxide or silica sand which have different sizes and shapes, topcoat finish would be the natural floor finish without adding aggregate, and material coverage rate is the square foot per gallon achieved during application.
